Batangas Schools Enjoy High-Tech Learning

Dexter Dango and Glorybee Delos Santos, 2nd year students from Calatagan National High School, got high honors as they placed 7th in the Metrobank Mathematics Teacher Association of the Philippines Division Challenge, attended by 21 high schools from Batangas.  Hard work and a reliable learning partner helped them win.  The two students religiously accessed the Mathematics subject of their school’s e-learning program called Genyo.

Calatagan National High School and Lucsuhin National High School are among  schools which are able to reap the benefits of ICT in education.  This is made possible through a partnership between Diwa Learning Systems Bato Balani Foundation and Enrique Zobel Foundation.

Students of Calatagan and Lucsuhin learn their Science, Math, English, Filipino and Aralin Panlipunan using Genyo’s interactive and dynamic multimedia components such as video and audio clips, colorful graphics, charts and animations, interactive simulations and challenging exercises and quizzes. Genyo follows the prescribed format of the Department of Education.

History, Geometry and Chemistry are among Genyo’s most visited sites.  Students access Genyo more often to do advance studies to prepare for classroom discussions.

Teachers also benefit from the program, as it makes lesson plan preparation easier for them.  Genyo can also be customized to fit the teachers’ preferred lesson plans.

The partnership between the three organizations and two schools includes not just installation and maintenance but also the training of the teachers in ICT integration.
