Educators gathered to discuss the future of technology in education
School administrators from Metro Manila and nearby provinces assembled to discuss the benefits of e-learning, in recognition of the significance of the use of technology in modern education.
The event, entitled The Benefits of e-learning: Educating and Innovating Beyond the Walls, held at the
Ms. Calaca excited guests on the possibilities of having an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) compliant school environment.
This, as she cited the benefits of their e-learning program to UST high school students like easier management of classroom lessons, access to high-profile teachers who are abroad and others.
It was emphasized that e-learning programs are not meant to replace teachers, but to enhance their skills and make the classroom experience for students better, using the technology these students have grown to love.
An e-learning program, Genyo, was also presented by its developers Diwa Learning Systems Inc. Diwa Vice President for Marketing Jose Maria Policarpio led the presentation of this program.
Genyo is the first Philippine-produced e-learning program for high school. Mr. Policarpio explained that Genyo was developed based on studies that show that students retain 20 percent of what they hear, 40 percent of what they see and hear and 80 percent of what they see, hear and experience.
The e-learning program includes a highly-interactive and teacher-friendly software, which makes the discussion of Science, Math and Araling Panlipunan more engaging. There are also a cellphone-driven homework helper and broadcast center, teacher training program and an online site for educators, students and parents.
