DCCS students excel in poem writing with Genyo
9/1/2011

AUGUST 25, 2011 – Students from Don Carlo Cavina School proved that anyone has the right to be a poet as they showed their passion in writing poems by joining the Timpalak sa Pagsulat ng Tula, an online poem writing contest carried over using the Genyo portal.

A total of 176 young poets from 1st year and 2nd year participated in the program which was held at the High School Genyo Laboratory. They were able to produce exceptional poems focusing on the theme, “Teknolohiya at Ako bilang Kaisa sa Pagtataguyod ng Wikang Filipino.”

Facilitating teacher Arnel Davila was certain that the students are great poets in their own way. The activity goes to show that education, combined with technology can bring out the potentials of any student and can inspire the timid ones to share their talent and go out of their shells.

Below are the winners of the said competition:

FIRST PLACER – Aleine Pobre

SECOND PLACER – Charlene Kae Mercado

THIRD PLACER – Nelbie Penuliar

Featured below is the winning piece of Aleine Pobre, first placer of the Timpalak sa Pagsulat ng Tula:

Teknolohiya, Wika at Ako

I

Pagmamahal ng mga bayani sa bansa

Sa ating wikang Filipino nakatala

Dahil dito’y tayo’y nagkakaintindihan

Ang bawat isang salita’y makabuluhan

II

Wikang Filipino, sariling wika ni Juan

Nagsasalaysay ng kanyang nararamdaman

Ngunit di maiiwasang minsa’y mawalay

Tuloy tayo’y naghahanap ng mag-uugnay

III

Malungkot ang mawalay sa ating pamilya

Ngunit nang sumaklolo ang teknolohiya

Malayang naihahatid ang nadarama

Naipapahayag ng nakagisnang wika

IV

Ang iba’t- ibang teknolohiya’y lumago

Mabuting benepisyo ay ipinangako

Nag-uugnay sa mga miyembro ng pamilya

Ang malayong distansiya’y di na makikita

V

Kaya’t sa pagpapahayag ko ng damdamin

Wikang Filipino ang gagamitin

Maiaabot gamit ang teknolohiya

Saan man naroroon ang mga sinisinta
