One of the biggest problems not just here in the Philippines but all over the world is the promotion of healthy living or healthy lifestyle. The issue about malnutrition in the Philippines has been very alarming that there is a need for everyone to be aware of the different ways on how healthy living can be upheld.
Given this scenario, Divine Light Academy Molino in cooperation with Genyo e-Learning, conducted its program entitled “The Healthy You: Best Suggestion Contest” for both the Grade School and the High School department last July 28 – 29, 2011.
The Healthy You: Best Suggestion Contest aims to gather the best suggestion from the students which they think will help them achieve healthy living in line with the theme “Eat Right, Think Bright, Act Delight”. The suggestions were posted online through Genyo’s feature, the Suggestion Box.
Below are the top suggestions from each department (GS and HS):
From Grade 6 student Winner Danielle Ann Balatan:
“Eat veggies, fruits, and nutritious foods. Leafy and green vegetables will surely help us gain a healthy lifestyle. Let us leave behind such junk foods and carbonated drinks and foods. Don't focus on what we'll miss and lose in leaving our favorite unhealthy food but, instead, think about the good feedbacks that will return to us.. It may be tempting and will take time for us to forget about these junk foods but its beautiful result will surely take the prize. Always eat the right amount of food that sustains our energy for the day. These healthy foods will help us think brighter resulting to a more delightful or pleasing actions.”
Suggestion from Second year student Pauline Aira Salazar:
“For you to live a healthy lifestyle, you must be physically, mentally, socially and emotionally healthy. To be healthy physically, you must change your diet, whether you are big or small, everyone needs to eat right. It is not about losing weight, but eating foods appropriate for your body. Drinking plenty of glasses of water is another way to be physically healthy. Sleeping 8-10 hours and exercising can also help your body be alert and active for your day-to-day activities. For you to be mentally healthy, you must have a clear mind and will always be optimistic. Read books regularly so that you will gain more information about the events happening around you. And, as I have said earlier, resting can refresh your mind and your memory. To be socially healthy, you must practice your social skills by having conversations with friends, or other people. You should also join organizations and clubs. You can also join in charity groups to help other people’s needs. And lastly, for you to be healthy emotionally, you must be open up your problems. You should also keep in touch with your family members. Having leisure time for yourself or simply relaxing is being emotionally healthy. In these simple ways, you can be healthy in all the aspects of life.”
With these healthy suggestions, Divine Light Academy Molino students can make a difference in propagating the news about healthy living.
