From primeval to virtual: DBTIM Online Essay Writing Contest
9/27/2011
Although filled with jitters and butterflies, young Bosconians from grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 still managed to build their ideas as they state their views and opinions through the Online Essay Writing Contest held at St. Joseph the Worker e-Classroom last August 23, 2011.

The event, which was made possible through the collaboration of the Filipino Department headed by Mrs. Imelda Retales and the Genyo team, fortifies Don Bosco Technical Institute – Makati’s reputation as one of the leading technological schools in the Philippines in such that they deviated from the traditional way of Essay Writing Contest and went online.

The contest which was held at St. Joseph the Worker e-Classroom carries the theme of, “Teknolohiya at Ako Bilang Kaisa sa Pagtataguyod ng Wikang Filipino”. Specifically, the contest aims to provide an avenue for the students to showcase their writing prowess and draw out their opinions regarding a timely issue in the vernacular language and to make them realize the essence and importance of Information Technology in promoting the Filipino language.

The contest had two categories: First category caters grades 3 and 4 students and the Second Category is intended for Grades 5 and 6. As part of the campaign and theme, students set aside their pen and paper and typed in their ideas through GENYO’s Offline Homework feature.

DBTIM Grade School department’s administrators were appreciative to have such event. “It was a very relevant activity.” said Mrs. Retales. Ms. Ofelia A. Dantes, DBTIM’s Grade School principal is more than glad that they were able to optimize the use of technology through the Essay Writing program. Both the Grade School department and GENYO e-learning look forward to more ICT-integrated activities.
