For Every Parent, Teacher, Pastor, Leader, Coach, and Mentor
By Ma. Teresa Calderon, Ph.D

This now-classic volume, written by one of the most effective and influential Christian leaders of this century, outlines seven proven, easy-to-grasp principles any teacher can apply.  This warm and practical book is a must-read for anyone who wants to teach with power and passion, excitement and excellence.

This book is about seven strategic concepts in teaching which Dr. Hendricks calls “laws”—principles, rules.

• The Law of the Teacher
• The Law of Education
• The Law of Activity
• The Law of Communication
• The Law of the Heart
• The Law of Encouragement
• The Law of Readiness

If you boil them all down, these seven laws essentially call for a passion to communicate.
Communication is the reason for our existence as teachers.

It’s also our number one teaching problem.

In schools, churches, sanctuaries, seminars—whatever the teaching situation may be, the name of the game these days seems not to be teaching, but covering material.  And as a result, we see unmotivated students who, rather than be engrossed by the lesson and enjoy it, merely endure it . . . at best.  Students couldn’t care less about how the truths they’ve been exposed to can change their lives.

Dr. Hendricks emphatically defines teaching as “Teaching is causing. Causing what?  Causing people to learn.”

There’s a very essential relationship between teaching and learning.  It’s the teaching-learning process.  These words are inseparable.  If the learner does not learn, we have not taught.

So the focus in teaching is primarily on what you as the teacher do, and the focus on learning is primarily on what the student does. But we test the effectiveness of your teaching not by what you do, but by what the student does as a result of what you do.

“Learning is change,” according to Dr. Hendricks. Essentially, learning means a change in your thinking, a change in your feeling, a change in your behavior. Learning means that a change takes place in the mind, in the emotions, and in the will.

Catch Dr. Hendricks’s enthusiasm and learn from his rich experience as you discover how to practice the best type of teaching: Teaching to Change Lives!

Let me assure you, when you start practicing the seven laws, you’ll find your teaching to be far more exciting and fulfilling than you ever thought possible, because you’ll see life-change in your students.
