ICT in Basic Education Seminar to Lead Schools to 21st Century Learning

Diwa Learning Systems once again leads the way for ICT integration in basic education, as it hosts another round of its ICT in Basic Education Seminar Series on September 18, 2009, starting at 3:00 PM at Meetings Rooms 2 and 3 of SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia.

Mr. John J. Macasio, ICT Services Consultant of the Department of Education will talk about the ICT4E or ICT for Education directive of the government agency.  ICT4E is the government’s effort to usher in a new era in education focusing on five areas ICT ICT-Enabled Curriculum, ICT-Enabled Teacher, ICT-Enabled Governance, ICT- Enhanced Content, and ICT Infrastructure.

Diwa Learning Systems Executive Director Jose Maria T. Policarpio will discuss how schools can easily integrate ICT in their classroom instruction through Genyo, which is being used now by some of the country’s forward looking private elementary and high schools to deliver education that is a pace with global standards. The product, developed in partnership with Singapore based Learning Edvantage or LEAD, is the same product being used in most schools in Singapore.

To further help participants in ICT integration, Dr. Maria Ana T. Quimbo of the College of Public Affairs, University of the Philippines Los Banos will present "Technology Integration in Basic Education: Facilitating and Impeding Factors."

Diwa Asia Publishing Group Chairman Saturnino Belen Jr. will deliver the keynote address.

The company will also launch, during the event its new line of textbooks called 3rd Generation Textbooks and Scholastic Enhancement Materials Digital Edition, which utilizes the advantages of ICT in delivering interesting and effective learning materials to provide every school, teacher, student and parent with superior learning experience.
